Toby is a freelance radio reporter / audio producer, visual awareness and sighted guiding trainer, website access consultant and arts access ambassador.
Radio and Audio Production
Toby has years of radio and audio production experience – he is a regular freelance reporter on Radio 4’s In Touch programme providing news, views and information for visually impaired people. He has worked on live and pre-recorded BBC network arts radio programmes. During his time at VocalEyes as Deputy Director he studio produced all the recorded audio introductory notes for the described theatre performances as well as a number of the audio described museum guides. He produced audio podcast interviews and features for the charity’s website and all of the recordings for the award winning ‘London Beyond Sight’ project.
Visual Awareness and Sighted Guiding Trainer
Toby has delivered and facilitated many visual awareness and sighted guiding training courses for VocalEyes to a wide range of organisations helping them to better understand and meet the needs of their visually impaired customers and clients. Organisations included; Tate Modern and Tate Britain, IWM (Imperial War Museum), Wellcome Collection to name just a few.
Website and Access Audits
Toby has used many forms of assistive technology from magnification software to screen readers he is in a unique position to advise web and app developers and designers on how best to make their websites and apps accessible for people living with varying levels of sight loss.
